Kenya-Nairobi

KE-NA-city:

One day I'm walking down the streets of Nairobi wearing my backpack with my Canadian flag on the back. I was wearing my backpack as I was just back from Safari. When out of the blue a man walks up to me and says that he intends to attend the University in my hometown. However as this guy is telling me he is going to go to Canada he seems very nervous and afraid. He tells me he would like to talk to me in a very indiscrete place where we can both talk privately. As we walk into a restaurant we find a place near the back where we can talk in private. HE continues to tell me the story of how he had fled Sudan to Kenya where he was actively seeking asylum in Canada.  For two weeks this man had been on the run from refugee camps near the border of Sudan and Kenya. He continues to tell me that he and his friends had walked 700km in the last two weeks and were now staying at the train station under the protection of some scurries. I knew that there was no way that I could get him to Canada but I gave him all the money I had on me and some malaria medicine for one of his friends who had developed malaria a couple days prior. Long story short, the last I saw of them was getting onto a bus headed for Tanzania where they were to rendezvous with a priest who would give them sanctuary in Der es Salam.
